Wintery Dead Zones
I hope everyone who is reading this had a cool Thanksgiving. We’ve had sick kids, an extended Thanksgiving school break, and a snow storm so life has been put on hold this whole week. Times like these are when I start to get the winter-crazies even though it isn’t even winter yet.
I’ve occupied myself with watching a lot of movies and making year-end lists in my head. Letterboxd tells me I’ve watched 139 movies this year. Is that embarrassing?
I’m still waiting on some 4x5 scans but I had some 120 film to share from the past couple of weeks. I have been loving shooting b&w on medium and large format lately.
I did a shoot in the white mountains a few weeks ago and I really wanted to check out the area where Betty and Barney Hill were supposedly abducted by aliens in the 50s. I don’t believe in alien abductions but that case is definitely worth looking into. Something weird definitely happened out there and it wasn’t aliens…
Then there’s some mundane color landscapes. Some sunsets and a cemetery mound. This was one of those rolls where it felt like I was just trying to get through it from the very beginning. All of them were taken before or after engagement sessions.
I shot an album cover for someone out in the snow last night. I’ll probably be able to share that next week. Maybe the 4x5 scans will be ready. Oh yeah, and I have my last wedding of the year on Saturday. There’s plenty of stuff!
OH YEAH and Photo A-GoGo is a week and a day away. Friday, December 12th from 6-9 at Maine Studio Works in Portland. I would love to see you there.
